yacht-charter-makarskaToday we continue our tour of the best places to go to in winter in yacht charter Croatia. After showing you what fun you can have in Dubrovnik in the winter, it’s time to direct your attention elsewhere, this time to Makarska, a resort an hour to the south of Split.

Like so many other resorts in yacht charter Croatia, Makarska is free from tourists and thus is able to confer its full beauty and touristic potential. For those yacht charter travelers that hate crowds, this is the perfect time to make a trip.

In addition, since the town isn’t as frequented by tourists, the visitor is able to witness the normal life of the locals during the quieter winter months. But don’t think that if the climate is somewhat colder you’ll be confined to your hotel room.  And speaking of hotel rooms, because winter is not the typical tourist season in Croatia, you’ll find the rates significantly lower than in August or September.

Among the most famous hotels in town is the Park Hotel which lies in the center and which is beautifully dominated in the background by the Biokovo mountain while still offering lovely views of the Adriatic Sea. As a testament to the quality of its services, it’s one of the few that is open throughout the year.

Even during the off season, temperatures remain pretty high compared to other regions in western and eastern Europe so that you can still indulge in outdoor activities. Makarska has an indoor Olympic pool, football courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts and bowling courts. Also, weather permitting, the visitor can enjoy paragliding, free rock climbing, mountaineering, mountain biking and even speology.
If the town in itself does not provide you with enough activities, Split is just 60km away by car which is a trip of just over an hour. And there you can find numerous museums as well as a lively night life and numerous shopping opportunities.
